The Daisy Freezer Centre history

Daisy Freezer Centre is situated in Compton on a major route just 3 miles from the centre of Woverhampton.
A family business opened in 1976 just about at the height of public enthusiasm for freezers and frozen food, its avowed aim was to sell the very best quality in all things frozen. With 5 butchers on the early compliment of 10 staff the accent was on the preparation of fresh meat which was then rapidly frozen on the premises. Cut packed and priced within hours of freezing guaranteed the freshness and quality of all meat products which became the corner stone of the business for many years.

As the popularity of the freezer centre grew it became vital to increase the Sales Floor area and storage capacity, and in 1983 a large extension was undertaken which solved the problem - initially at least. A further Sales Floor addition was completed in 1990 and at the same time a 30000 cubic feet storage facility was built near Bridgnorth from where deliveries are made to the store by our own refrigerated van.

This large storage capacity enables the company to buy and consequently to sell at the best possible prices, with 70 display freezers and 5 chilled cabinets to select from.

Substantial investment has been made during the past 12 years in new and better display freezers, delicatessen counters and meat preparation equipment.
A sophisticated computer system incorporating 'Laser-Scan' check-outs, stock control and purchase ordering has greatly assisted in the efficient running of the store.

The 33 full time and 8 part time staff receive regular and meticulous training and are encouraged to acquire the Essential Food Hygiene Certificate or the companies own equivalent.

In the latter years the Company's membership of the National Independent Shopkeepers Association (N.I.S.A.) has proved invaluable with its massive purchasing power akin to any of the major supermarkets. Indeed prices are so competitive that the company also supplies pubs, clubs, restaurants, canteens and old peoples homes.

The product range has also been greatly extended in recent years and includes an extensive chilled range, delicatessen, groceries, beers and wines.
With more investment planned for future years, the company fully intends to maintain its reputation for quality foods both fresh and frozen, and to continue to give pleasant, cheerful service to its many customers.
